Giant Bunnies, Hurricanes... What else could you ask for? by Rocco Gardner

OCTOBER 30, 2012

On October 27 2012 (yes that’s right the day before Hurricane Sandy), 10 teams of brave Escapees met at Milk Studios at 8 AM.  Armed only with their super hero costumes, handing over all their cash, they escaped into the real world on a mission to travel as far as they could in 24 hours using only their wit and charm.

Giant bunny rabbits were spotted in Washington DC, Mario and Luigi frolicking in the corn fields in upstate New York, The Dude and Pretty Woman trying to get through the TSA wearing just their underwear, two pussy cats raiding a Wallgreens in South Beach Miami.... and a couple of janitors boarding a flight for Salt Lake City, Utah.

Over $20,000 were raised for good causes and millions tuned in to watch the Escape online.

OCTOBER 30, 2012

On April 27 2013, our fearless Escapees broke out of LA.  Dressed in costumes ranging from Coming to America to Superman and Captain America, our Heroes got as far as Florida and Philadelphia.  Cast members included Breaking Bad’s Jeremiah BitsuiMTV’s Kelly-Anne Judd and UK recording artist Darius Campbell.

Superman and Captain America were seen being escorted out of the Griffith Observatory, flying over the fence of the Greek and swimming in the Bellagio Fountains.  Meanwhile DJ Henri and Dawn were kindly flown to Philadelphia by Q-Tip.  Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes and girlfriend Tuesdayheaded for London, only to be caught posing in front of a blue screen two miles away on Hollywood BLVD, nice try!

Prince Akeem and King Jaffe Joffer, accompanied by Queen Aoleon headed to Florida, courtesy of the Seminole Tribe of Florida where they flew on private jets, wrestled alligators and drove swamp buggies, earning thousands of bonus miles.

Over $20,000 were raised for good causes and millions tuned in to watch the Escape online.

Sunny days in New York State’s Eastern most point, Montauk by Rocco Gardner

AUGUST 10, 2012

Thanks to the awesome team at Solé East in Montauk NY, from August 4 -6 the Escape team took over the Resort.  With sets from Albert Hammond JR of the Strokes, synch swimming, fashion and awesome food from Exec Chef Larry Kolar, we couldn’t have had a better time.  It was pretty hot but we made it through!

Thanks also to all the performers including Kelly Halloran, BP Fallon, Michaelangelo L’Acqua and everyone else who made the journey out.  Also special thanks to the local community in Montauk, we hope you were as happy with the outcome of the weekend as we were!

APRIL 24, 2012

Just when none of us thought our weekend at Coachella could get any better (killer sets by Bon Iver, The Hives , Radiohead and an after death appearance by Tupac) we were joined poolside in Palm Springs by none other than Friday night’s headliners... who then DJ’d for everyone, joined by 5th band member and Radiohead producer, Nigel Godrich.

Bloody Mary’s were inhaled, Mimosa’s poured and everyone got down to some serious dancing whilst also being flabbergasted by the insane calibre of tunes and music masters attached.

Then it was back to the main site again for the evening, led by Hollywood starlet Lauren Marie Young, to check out Aviici and who knows what else.  Memories... you could say so!

Thanks to Milk, Tea N’ Crumpet and Nur Khan for helping to bring this one together!

The Inaugural ESCAPE by Rocco Gardner

Torrential rain and storms forced the last day to be cancelled, but the mark was made and Escape was born.

Special thanks to the Shinnecock Nation of Long Island for allowing Escape to use their land as a home for the weekend.  Special thanks also to our Partners, New York City and the community of Southampton NY, its businesses and the local town for all of the support in getting Escape on its feet, we will always remember your generosity, Escape.

AUGUST 6 - 8, 2011

Five years of planning, countless meetings and an ocean to cross.  In early August 2011, Escape arrived on the shores of North America.  Brought by British entrepreneur and Escape Founder, Rocco Gardner, along with UK festival producer Freddie Fellowes, of The Secret Garden Party.

New Yorkers and travellers from further afield were treated to a weekend of entertainment never seen before in the US.  Cutting edge artists combined with amazing art, great food, teepees and fashion from New York were just some of the elements guests were treated to.
